There are many options. Very likely many more than you thought possible.
The exercise is to write out all options that hold some truth for you. (Please note: “some truth” is suggested rather than “any truth”. Otherwise, depending on your shape-shifting ability “any truth” could lead to a list of every possibility in creation — and beyond.)
Example:
- I am a scientist.
- I am a mammal.
- I am a human.
- I am spirit.
- I am member of _____.
- I am member of my family.
- I am _______ political party.
- I am part of the galactic quantum field.
Continue adding to your list until you have somewhere between 30 and 300. Thirty is a reasonable target as a minimum. If you run out of steam around 20, move on to the exercises. You can always come back to list. And, as for more than three hundred, seems a bit excessive.
Below are a few exercises designed for use with the created list.
Exercise 1)
Go through the list scoring each of the options. Rate on a scale from 1 to 5. 1 would be for slightly identified with. 5 would be very identified with. 2, 3, and 4 would be for incremental degrees of identification between the extremes.
Exercise 2)
Scan through the list. When an option jumps out at you, pause and focus on that option. Make it prominent in your attention (standing out so as to be easily seen, important, or well-known). Pick it up, embrace it, put it down, move down the list.
Exercise 3) Scan through your list. Pause at each option. Turn the identification volume up on that option. Dive into it.
